Not many things make me angrier than a bully. We all have bad habits, weaknesses and flaws. Do you really believe Mr. McDermott that mocking derision will induce someone to suddenly produce your image of the perfect human being?

On the contrary, what you do cause is hatred. People like you create and are perhaps one of the reasons for those who go to pieces and hurt other people. And this cycle continues, you hurt me, I hurt you or someone else.

I feel sorry for you and those like you. When your time comes to be on the receiving end, I wonder what your reaction to that will be. If you dish it out...

Dear Yale Researchers,

Why aren't you looking into the positive aspects of this sort of feedback?

It has been shown, I believe, that people with thin friends and family HAVE thin friends and family, and the negative feedback they give each other is part of the equation. Not till Roseann and Oprah did us the disservice of making excess acceptable were people NOT given negative feedback for it. Overweight was seriously frowned upon and obesity considered obscene. We need to return to that.
