This study is disgusting.........."researchers injected dye into the owls’ arteries, mimicking blood flow, and manually turned the animals’ heads. " Shame on you........someone is looking for tenure.......the anastomoses are to their wallets and pensions........Johns Hopkins......you are better than this.

By understanding how other animals have adapted to meet evolutionary challenges, this study may lead to new treatments for neck injuries.

It's only useful - if it relates to humans, apparently.

To hell with the other 10 million, or 30 million species ...

And this helps us to better understand spinal cord injuries in humans how? This article, in no way, deepened my understanding of how this experiment can help a human, just explains the difference between a human and a owl.
Sounds like a "cool" experiment, but was it really useful?

The medical profession's latest attack on Chiropractic is to associate cervical manipulation with stroke, intended to scare people away from treatment. As a Chiropractor in practice for 30 years, I know no one has studied this issue more than Chiropractic malpractice insurance companies and if there were a danger of inducing strokes with manipulation then my malpractice cost would not be the current $2,000 per year, it would be TEN TIMES that rate. Malpractice numbers don't lie and are a good indication of how safe or dangerous different treatments are.
