Several universities, along with the National Institutes of Health, are testing the abilities of salsalate to control diabetes. Salsalate is an aspirin-like drug used to treat arthiritis and was discovered in 1876 to have beneficial effects on patients with diabetes as well.

TULANE (US)—Can an old drug perform new wonders? A team of researchers at Tulane and Harvard universities is partnering with the National Institutes of Health to test the abilities of salsalate, an inexpensive generic drug, to control diabetes. Continue…
