There are some high profile examples where prior published work has been overturned, but believe it or not this does not occur very often in practice. All academic research needs to have 2nd, 3rd, 4rd. group of scientists look at the data, evidence before we can invest confidence in the findings. Acadmics are No more "truth-bearers" than Al gore or George W. Bush. All research on this site should be viewed with a grain of Salt. 2nd 3rd, 4th. 5th party examination of the facts, data, evidence before we can report it as the real thing, real deal.
