Casey Foundation. That survey included responses from 2,200 nonprofit organizations. One finding was that "The average nonprofit executive director is a white woman in her 50s with about 6 years of experience as an executive." I find the correlation between the 2004 study and this published finding quite interesting. Maybe one reason that so many women are in leadership positions in nonprofits has something to do with the findings reported above?
