Mmm.... interesting one...

I guess it has to be an acquired skill

after all, no (old school) dentist, lawyer or politician started out as natural liars...:)

so they definitely accumulated those skills along the way

the scary part is that that this proves how easy it actually is to lie if you want to...

and all that stands between you and that choice is - in most cases - the foundation laid as you were raised.

as such, it would seem that most people are pretty well raised...;)

just my 0.02c

Concur, Baron.

In addition to this article, I theorize that the brain can also learn to accept lies as truth, given repetition with the rehearsal of the lie. Hence the reason false memories exist and also the susceptibility to be suggestible. I think it the ability to do this probably resides in an individuals capacity to not feel "bad" about the lie.

The problem is that if you don't have time to prepare your lies, the lies may appear truthful at the outset, but easily detected as lies as soon as they can be examined afterward.
Also in each culture we have acceptable forms of lies that are easily told - except again everyone at least subconsciously knows that the truth was probably played with in the bargain.
