What exactly were these &#039;lesions&#039;?  How does nitrogen dissolved in the blood show up in bones that become fossils?  Was this not painful &amp; debilitating for the animal, like bends are for humans?  How is the mechanism for nitrogen bubbles from rapid ascent different from long stay at greater depth?  (In my scuba diving training, avoiding the bends required following one equation that tied ascent time and time at depth together).</description>
