i know exactly what it is to supposedly have a wide network of friends ...a so called stable family life and still be so lonely and I am just 32......I feel for the people who are older and are in this web of unsatisfying relationships.....I think it is all about expectations and once you can conquer your expectations from these relationships you would not feel lonely anymore...till you expect something more from those relationships and always harbour the feeling of not getting much out of the relationship -- is when depression sets in....
meditation and self reliance are two routes to suppress depressive tendencies......

Dr. Karen Allen studied 48 stockbrokers with hypertension. When faced with a high-stress situation, those with pets at home had their resting systolic blood pressure elevate to 126, while the petless groups had an increase to 148.

What effect, if any, do pets have on older adults? Can a furry friend in the home counteract the feelings of lonliness and lower blood pressure?
