The fact that it's a national forest in Ecuador may mean something different than in the US, but even in the US, there is development in National Forests. Many if not most ski areas in Colorado are leased from the National Forests they are situated in. I love to ski, and I think it's ok to use part of the forest for that activity but it's hard to argue that area is really very "protected." Lots of legal logging goes on in the US national forests, also. It's pretty hard to argue that an area that is being logged is being "protected." If they are drilling for oil in the Yasuni forest, it's going to hurt that animals and plants and insects that live there, whether it's technically a National Forest or not.
