The team behind Futurity needs an associate editor to help share scientific breakthroughs—from a consortium of research universities around the world—with the public.
We spend our days adapting press releases for the general public, finding images to accompany them, and amplifying that work through social media.
- The right candidate will:
- Have unwavering accuracy and attention to detail;
- Write catchy headlines and summaries;
- Identify compelling images;
- Consider inclusivity and diversity in all aspects of the work;
- Observe trends in science/higher ed communications;
- And enjoy adapting as our strategies and style continue to evolve.
The associate editor will occasionally run the site without supervision and will need to get up to speed quickly. The role also includes representing the site in collaborations with our contacts at partner universities and occasionally at conferences.
The site is based at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, but remote work is possible for the right candidate. We primarily work in WordPress, Photoshop, Slack, and Trello. Experience with these platforms, graphic design, web writing, and/or other relevant fields would be especially welcome.
